About me

This is where I step onto a metaphorical soap box and rant about my favorite subject: myself. If you get bored with my apparent self-absorption, I won't mind if you go off to read something else. However, if you actually want to know more about me, then by all means, read on.

I am very artistic. I am a chronic overachiever and a perfectionist. I'm impatient, loyal, and a just a little bit strange (those who know me would correct this statement and tell you that I am more than just a little bit strange, and they would probably be right). I am extremely devoted to my pets and my friends. I love coffee and tea, and I hate soy beans with an unusual passion. If I don't have something of worth to contribute to a conversation, I tend to stay quiet. But when I have something to say, I tend to go on and on. (Yes, that was a warning).

I love writing, reading, and acting. I am ridiculously musical, and while I enjoy singing and playing piano possibly the most, I love playing ukulele, recorder, and listening to other people play guitar (I swear I'll get around to teaching myself to play one of these days). I once directed a teeny-tiny chime choir, and I compose my own music whenever the opportunity presents itself. I am currently teaching a small music theory class at a homeschool co-op. I love jazz, and I am still very miffed by the fact that my request for a Glenn Miller song was ignored at a recent dance and the DJ instead chose to play popular monochromatic noise for the entire evening.

I love fantasy, adventure and sci-fi. I have a great love for Warehouse 13, Eureka and, foremost,  Doctor Who (bowties are cool). I also love steampunk, and enjoy working on costumes and making cool-looking apparatuses out of bronze paint and widgets that I found in my basement. (If you don't know what steampunk is, I encourage you to look it up).

I am in high school. I am homeschooled. (Yes, I'm socialized. Yes, I know who Lady Gaga is. And if you haven't figured out by now that I can read and write, then I reserve the right to laugh at you).

I would like to go into the performing arts or become a music teacher or a writer when I grow up. Failing that, I want to be Mary Poppins.
